My Gen 3 Standard has always been like that since day one. It hasn't gotten worse over the 2+ years I've owned it. As far as I know, this is a very common problem and happens on most Gen 3 units. It doesn't seem to affect functionality or integrity of the antenna at all. I wouldn't worry about it.
