I have two Stalink systems, the first was a Gen 2 which i used the R7000 in bypass. The R7000 was sected because it has a detachable external antenna which is connect to a 20db outdoor antenna. This worked great but our business grew and the R7000 only allows 32 connections per channel. We have more than 100 people at our meadery, our POS was also connected to the r7000 so we would get bunped off our own network.
I added the performance Starlink for added band width, Starlink sent be the mini-router with the package. I got the RUTM50 router because it says it can handle up to 150 connection per channel. I put this all together the same as the Gen 2 system, with the RUTM50 plugged into the starlink mini-router and was going to put it into bypass mode, but i got a message that no router was connected to my system. Measured speed were greater than 300mbps. The problem was with the POS system, it connects fine to the network and internet, but would not allow credit card purchase to occur. It stated that we could not reach the server or there was no internet. I then plugged the starlink dish directly into RUTM50, now everything work great even the credit card purchases. The issue is the speed test show only 20mbps more than a 10x loss.
The reason for the post is to try to determin how i get the speed back, Starlink seem to say we have to us their router as it has feature whihc give Starlink the high speed connectivity.
in the meantime my Gen2 system stopped working, after 8days of trying to contact Starlink support they finally responded and replaced the Gen2 system with a Gen3. The Gen 3 system is setup the same as the Gen 2 with the r7000 router connected to the gen 3 starlink router in bypass mode. Tested speeds are just abot 100mbps. Of course now I am having issue with the R7000, and keep losing the internet connection to the guest wifi and 5g channels.
